This is for the public benefit. We are writing this down so that
someone somewhere might make an informed decision. We placed an order
costing us INR59,600/- (which was supposed to include transportation
as well) with an organization which variably calls itself as "Reliance
Trading Corporation" and "Learners Play" and "Reliance Publishers". We
decided to do business with them (even though they are located in
Delhi and we in Bangalore) because we thought that they offered a good
deal to us (later realized that we were wrong). The order was placed
in the month of May 2009. The deal was to pay Rs. 28,500/- in advance
through demand draft and another Rs. 31,000/- on delivery, again
through demand draft. We kept our part of the deal (and even paid
INR3700/- extra for transportation), but they didn't.
We took the inventory of the delivered packages (we are too small a business to do it immediately) only after a few days of the actual delivery. We trusted them to have executed the order correctly and hence we have already made the full payment by now. Unfortunately, we came to know that only 75% of the ordered products have been delivered. We have contacted them numerous times with no tangible result. They mostly ignore our e-mails., rarely pick up our phone calls, and if they happen to pick up the phone call, it would be someone to say that the concerned person is not there. It took us more than 6 months to realize that we have been swindled (we were too naive to trust.) So please be careful if you ever have to deal with them. Their contact details are as follows (from their website):
We haven't even received a proper itemized bill for the money we paid or for the products delivered. What to do about this? The poor (wo)man's response (with very limited resources) would be to blog about it, warn others, learn the lessons, and move on. Thats what we have done here now. But if you can help us get our refund (about INR20,000/-) please get in touch with us. Lawyers or law firms or collection agencies are welcome. While our documentation of the transaction is not perfect, I think we have reasonable amount of documentation to prove the authenticity of our claim.
"In God we trust, everybody else must bring data" should always be our guiding principle!
